SCREEN NS NOMINATION

lureatsns
The Screen Nova Scotia Awards were this past Saturday. LURE (directed by Jesse Harley) was nominated for four awards: Best Picture, Best Lead Performance by an Actress (Andrea Lee Norwood), Best Performance by a Supporting Actor (Richard Donat), and Best Actor in a Lead Performance, which I was nominated for.

Congratulations to Mike McLeod, for picking up the Best Lead Actor Award for his work on Thom Fitzgerald’s FORGIVE ME. I totally don’t hate you. I swear.

In all honesty, it was an incredible honour to be recognized for our work in light of the past few weeks spent battling the NS Liberals, trying to save our homegrown industry. Thank you to Screen Nova Scotia and everyone who had a hand in the evening. It was an excellent celebration of everyone’s hard work.

Update – June 15/15: Who needs Screen Nova Scotia’s stupid awards when you can get one from from the Eastern North Carolina Film Festival? That’s right, I picked up Best Actor honours from the folks down south! Thanks, kindly.

Congrats to all of the filmmakers and people who worked so hard to get stuff up on the screen this year. Looking forward to consuming as much of it as humanly possible.

LURE

lure
Happy to inform you that I have been cast in Jesse Harley‘s (IMDb link) debut feature-film, LURE, which will shoot in Halifax & Dartmouth over the next few weeks.

Lure is a psychological thriller that follows the story of grad student Rebecca Markowitz (Andrea Norwood). Rebecca is sent to a Nova Scotia prison to interview Eric Daltry (Glen Matthews), an Internet predator who has been accused of killing three women. As she probes into Daltry’s mind her education and personal life begin to crumble as she struggles with her own hidden demons.

The cast is basically a who’s who of Nova Scotian actors who I’ve wanted to work with: Molly Dunsworth, Richard Donat, John Dunsworth and Hugh Thompson.

We’ve got a great story, great cast, great team behind it, I’m really excited to get to work.

“MOBY DICK” ON BLURAY/DVD

As of today, Mike Barker‘s 3-hour mini-series, based on the classic novel MOBY DICK, is now available to purchase on BluRay and DVD on Amazon.com. BluRay link & DVD link.

Despite my insisting, each copy of the film will not be accompanied by a limited edition Glen-Matthews-bowler-hat. Sorry guys, I tried.

I finally got a chance to sit down and watch the entire thing, and I can easily put my stamp of approval on this one. Pick it up!
